Pulled BBQ Jackfruit burger

Quick and easy recipe for a classic Pulled BBQ Jackfruit burger! If you haven't tried it yet - it's gonna change your world!

 

Ingredients

For the burger:

  • Jack Barbeque: 250g
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Lettuce, arugula, or other greens: a handful
  • Tomato: 4 slices
  • Vegan cheddar cheese, like Violife or other: 2 slices

For the Coleslaw salad:

  • Red cabbage, chopped/grated: 1/4 cup
  • Carrot, grated: 1/4 cup
  • Vegan or regular mayonnaise (your choice): 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice: 1 tablespoon
  • Table mustard or Dijon mustard: 1 tablespoon

How to prepare

  1. Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. While the oil heats, open the package of BBQ Pulled Jackfruit and transfer it to the skillet. Sauté for another 6-10 minutes; the longer you sauté, the drier the Jackfruit will become.
  3. While the Pulled Jackfruit cooks in the skillet, prepare the coleslaw. In a large bowl, add the grated red cabbage, grated carrot, lime juice, mayonnaise, and mustard. Mix thoroughly, then season with salt and pepper. Your coleslaw is ready!
  4. Place the buns with the cheese in the oven for 3 minutes. Once the cheese melts and the buns are warmed, remove from the oven and start assembling your burger.
  5. On the bun, layer a handful of lettuce, BBQ Pulled Jackfruit, tomato slices, and coleslaw.
  6. It's best to serve the burger straight from the skillet to the plate and enjoy it while it's hot. Finger-licking good, and in just 10 minutes, everything is ready. This should be enough for 2-4 burgers, depending on the bun size and the amount of Jackfruit you use inside.
