Recipe for Bao with BBQ Butcher is all over the internet - but Bao with BBQ Butcher? Not yet! Our "barbecue" is a combination of pulled Jackfruit with aromatic, spicy BBQ sauce with a hint of plum. It goes well with both American dishes and those from the East!

Fluffy steamed bun, Sriracha mayo sauce, pickled vegetables, cilantro, mint, and roasted nuts - that's the recipe for an EXPLOSION of flavor.

Ingredients

Ingredients for 4 servings:
Jack Barbeque  1 tray
bao buns 4 pieces
sriracha sauce 1 tablespoon
mayonnaise 6 tablespoons
coleslaw vegetable mix 1/3 pack
green spring onion 1 stalk
fresh coriander 1 small pot
fresh mint 1/3 pot
roasted peanuts a handfull; chopped
fresh cucumber 1/2 piece
red chili pepper 1/3 piece

How to prepare

  1. Prepare all the ingredients - after steaming the Bao buns, you need to act quickly! Set up the steamer.
  2. Mix Sriracha with mayonnaise. Chop the cucumber and spring onion into thin strips.
  3. Make the vinegar brine - mix 1/3 cup of rice vinegar with 2/3 cup of boiled water. Add a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of sugar. Mix well.
  4. Soak the vegetables for coleslaw and cucumber in the brine and set aside.
  5. Unpack the Jackfruit and sauté in a pan.
  6. At this stage, you can put the Bao buns in the steamer and wait for the steam to do its magic ;)
  7. Chop the chili and cut the herb leaves.
  8. Open the cooked Bao buns and fill them with a spoonful of sauce. Then add the Jackfruit, drained pickled vegetables, spring onion, and chili. Sprinkle with roasted nuts and you're done!
